When you start solid foods, you may try giving water to your baby every 3 hours. This way the amount of water he drinks will increase in time and replace the low liquid levels supplied by breast milk.  Drinking water just before meals, swells the stomach and results in inadequate nutrition. So it is better if your baby drinks some water after the  meals.

Water consumption varies depending on the age, gender, weight, height and level of activity of each baby.  Amount of water required to maintain the fluid balance of the body depends on the body surface and calorie burned and even on the season.

In average:

• From months 6 to 12: 30-100 cc
• Between age of 1 and 3: 300-600 cc

Observe the moistness of your baby’s diaper or his urinary frequency. This is the most practical way to understand whether your child is drinking enough water. If your baby goes to the toilet every 2 hours and if urine density is normal, this means your baby has enough water. Changing 7 diapers a day is a sign that your baby gets all hydration he needs. Therefore start counting, the light will shine and the mystery will be resolved.
