Your little gourmet is used to liquids by now and he likes them. Liquids are what he knows as “food” and you should be gentle with your transition to solids. Any food you introduce to your baby for the first time must be slightly in liquid form. Your baby may not know what to do with a dense pudding or veggie puree since he has been given liquids until then. Thicken the foods gradually in time.

On the first day, give one dessertspoon of solid foods. Go with a plastic/silicon specially made for babies so that you won't hurt your baby’s palate. If your baby got interested and easily swallowed it, give him one more spoon. But if he is not that interested, let him smell it, touch it; let him try to get to know this new world. Afterwards breastfeed your baby like you always do and let him relax in the familiar universe he’s used to…

Repeat the same process  - preferably for the same meal -  for the next couple of days. As your baby gets used to it, give him one more spoon. In time – this differs along babies - the amount of solid food your baby eats in a meal will increase and amount of milk he drinks will decrease. Finally he will start eating solid food throughout the entire meal.  Now realize how beautifully your little baby grows, gently wipe off your tears and get ready for more. A lot more of these miraculous happenings are still yet to come...
