What are citrus fruits? Citrus fruit varieties like orange, tangerine, lemon are very nutritious foods. They are rich in Vitamin C, calcium,  fiber and folic acid. Acids these fruits contain may be too hard on the digestive system that has not been fully developed. And this may appear sometimes as allergic reactions and sometimes as rashes.

How happy for you if you gave fruit citrus to your baby and did not see any allergic reactions. But don't give strong citrus fruits like lemon to him every day. Give him some time to adapt. Eating these every day may be harmful.

Keep in mind

Dark red color of the inner part of grapefruit and orange is a sign showing that they contain high amounts of "lycopene".

Warning

We all know that orange and other citrus fruits are great sources of Vitamin C. You would not want to deprive your baby of these important sources. However these are very acidic foods. For this reason these may cause itching and especially rashes in babies under 1 year old. If you want to give your baby orange before month 12, you should pay attention to whether it causes allergic reactions or not.

Don't buy the ones wrapped in paper. There is a great chance that the ones wrapped in paper are either cut or have similar defects and they are wrapped so that they don't contaminate and ruin the other ones.
